Beer Festival and Knuckle Parade in Csaba

The Beer Festival and Knuckle Parade in Csaba, which has been organised since 2001, can be considered as a traditional event where several beer producers are represented and their latest products, as well as their well-known and beloved ones are popularised.
Creating and popularising the culture of beer consumption, extending the tourism supply of Békéscsaba, strengthening international relations and introducing gastronomic specialities are included among the goals of the event.
On the first day of the event the first beer-barrel comes from the sky as usual due to parachute jumpers and its content will be distributed to visitors free of charge.
This several-day festival supplies the visitors with many kinds of delicacies and specialities. The visitors can familiarise themselves with about 30 types of beer and the organisers will not forget about the knuckle that matches beer well. At the most popular Beer Festival and the only Knuckle Parade of Hungary the lovers of the “liquid bread” can consume beer from 1-litre mugs in compliance with the traditions.
The public will be entertained by live concerts every day. Olympic Medallist Master Cooks and chefs of the Gastronomic Team in Békés County will hold food-preparing demonstrations. On Saturday friendly teams can display how they can cook at competitions of preparing knuckle stew and knuckle dishes cooked over an open fire. On Sunday a competition of preparing “sztapacska” with smoked knuckle takes place.

The gastronomic main patron of the event is the Hungarian Gastronomic Association.
